The 2011 Ozone Edge is a powerhouse racing and boosting kite. By far the most advanced kite in terms of performance but amazingly, you don't need to be a pro rider to get the performance out of it. The Edge is easy enough for any above average beginner to fly, but in the hands of a confident rider in the upper half of it's wind range it is easily capable of the most gut wrenchingly high and smooth jumps.
The performance is simply 'beautiful', this is rarely a term I use when describing kites, but everything about this kite is beautiful. It's upwind ability, it's monstrous but incredibly smooth power, the responsiveness and feel, the stability and of course speed. The Edge has been consistently winning races all around the word since it's release and has become the winners choice, in fact the current Australian Kiteboarding Course Racing Champion, our own Johnno Keyes, found new speed and upwind adavantage in the Edges which gave him the Title in 2011.
In strong winds, to look down on others canopies is par for the course and it's difficult not to get complacent jumping massive airs all the time when it is so effortless. The jumps are breathtaking as you rapidly but smoothly soar into the blue, hang for what seems like an eternity and then gently float down to the water again. After landing, just point the board back upwind and in one tack, you find yourself amazed at how fast you are back upwind again.
This is truly an experience to fly this kite and is a joy to simply freeride. Only problem with demoing an Edge is that you will never be able to go back to your old kite after experienceing the finest kite in the industry.
Words simply aren't enough for this kite.
